AXE-FX: Direct Mode
DISCRIPTION: Special Mode for direct control of the Axe-Fx. All presets load name, state, effects and status in real-time.
- PREPERATIONS ON THE LF:
- Make sure the LF can recieve MIDI by using a 7-pin MIDI-cable plugged into the MIDI-OUT
or an additional 5-pin MIDI-cable plugged into the MIDI-IN. - Name MIDI-channel 1 to Axe-Fx. See Naming.
- Make sure that the LF has Sysex ID = 127. See here where to do that.
- PREPERATIONS ON THE AXE-FX:
- Go to the I/O menu, MIDI page.
- Set SYSEX ID = 00 01 74. (if you have a axe-fx firmware before 10.02, set it to 116)
- If you had to make any changes, shut power to the AXE-FX off and turned it back on.
- For each effect to be controlled, make sure you assigned it a CC in the AXE-FX.
PART 1: Turn Direct Mode on.

Which Function? Press P1 -> P6 | P6 to enter the Mode Menu. |

PART 2: S-button SYNC WITH
REMARK: you have to do this for each S-button you want to sync with a BLOCK in the Axe-Fx.

Which Function? Press P1 -> P6 | P3 to enter the Button Menu. |
Select a Switch S1 - S16 | S?? to choose your S-button.
If you want a S-button higher than 16, press UP and DOWN at the same time. |
Auto Prog CC msg MIDI Chan = 001 | P3 untill you see Device Sync. |
DEVICE SYNC FRACTAL AXE-FX | UP/DOWN change it to Fractal Axe-Fx.
S16 to save and jump to the next step. |
FRACTAL AXE-FX Drive 1 | UP/DOWN change it to the Block in the Axe-Fx you want it to sync with.

- Direct mode lets you also use IA switches with pre-programmed commands. Non-sync'd switches will act as normal!
- Switches can be of any type (stomp, momentary, etc...). This provides the ease of use of direct mode, with enormous flexibility. Think steps, and more. Also- IA pages work as normal...
- Programmed IA switches will also trigger as programmed. So direct mode can be very flexible and programmable when using multiple devices in the rig, while still using direct mode for AXE-FX.
